Rufus, if this is you, and even if it isn't, you Sir are a Leg End. I spent years wanting to reply as you did...

Yeah but he didn't.
He holds the same opinion as whoever did.....but it wasn't him. I'd love to know who it was, why they did it, why they decided to respond as someone else and where the bloody hell they learned their grammar and spelling......

Let's be honest about this... who else would have had access to his email box? Who else would have been handed the complaint?
I love Rufus but he's living in denial. It was him. It was all him.

well.....I work in tech support and since I have access to the Active Directory / Exchange settings I've got access to pretty much anyone in the company's inbox.
I've also got access to the call logging software in such a way that I can edit peoples call notes and delete the log entry that proves I did.
Mwaaahahahahahahaaaa.

Reply to swoop: Sounds like fun however as am sure you are aware unless (and even then) you have Super Admin permissions on your Tree (domain) that the will always be logs (paper trail) to whatever you change and do on the network. And with that in mind be careful as by doing that you not only but your job at risk but could be prosecuted for editing company logs. Just be careful.

Not saying I'm going to do anything, just saying it's most definately possible.
Therefore, the idea that Rufus's famous emails to El Reg may very well have not been written by him can certainly be true as Rufus claims.
